New documents unveil shocking scale of animal experiment approvals
The Government has published new summaries of licences granted for animal experiments between January and March 2026, revealing that 1,250,687 animals were approved for use across 90 projects over the next five years. This includes 100 beagles, 36 non-human primates, and more than 750,000 mice.
The sheer scale of these approvals in just three months underlines why we need Herbie’s Law more than ever to provide a clear, legally binding framework that turns strategies and roadmaps into real, accountable change.
